Pushing the limits
of action photography.

SPEED · POWER · INSTINCT

For more than three decades, I have photographed offshore racing around the world, constantly searching for new ways to capture speed, power and movement. I have always pushed beyond conventional techniques, developing a unique approach to create images that feel as intense as the race itself.

01 · PUSHING THE LIMITS

Making speed visible.

I have never been interested in simply recording a race. I wanted to find new angles, new techniques and new ways of working that could make speed visible, physical and almost tangible.

02 · CREATING NEW PERSPECTIVES

Beyond conventional viewpoints.

Offshore racing forced me to rethink where a photographer could work from. Boats, chase boats, helicopters and unconventional viewpoints became part of my visual language, allowing me to create perspectives that were rarely seen before.

03 · TECHNIQUE BECOMES INSTINCT

Control inside extreme movement.

Over the years, I developed techniques that combined long lenses, slow shutter speeds, panning and extreme viewpoints. The challenge was always the same: keep control of the image while everything around me was moving at extraordinary speed.

04 · ANTICIPATING THE IMAGE

At these speeds, reacting is too late.

I learned to read trajectories, water conditions, acceleration and light before the moment happened. Experience gradually turned calculation into instinct.

05 · WORKING WITH THE ELEMENTS

The sea becomes part of the image.

Spray, vibration, wind, reflections and rough water are not problems to eliminate. I learned to use them as part of the photograph, transforming difficult conditions into energy, atmosphere and drama.

06 · A PERSONAL VISUAL LANGUAGE

Technique should serve emotion.

By experimenting with movement, perspective and timing, I developed a style designed not only to show offshore racing, but to make the viewer feel its speed and intensity.

I didn’t want to photograph speed.
I wanted to invent a way to make it visible.
